Making the Switch: Stressed to Satisfied

One of my coaching goals is to be the go-to person for the “successful but struggling” high-performing leader or professional. It’s very possible to be both successful and feel like you’re failing at the same time - because I was there. The stress I experienced in pursuit of success often showed up as emotional and mental exhaustion, frequent feelings of worry or overwhelm, and confusion on direction. I even recall being frustrated when honored for professional award because I felt like an imposter. It felt like being rewarded for something I didn’t want. But I wasn’t unappreciative, I was just really stressed out.

Experiencing consistent anxiety, worry or overwhelm in your career makes it near impossible to appreciate your career. And what is the point of working so hard and achieving so much if you don’t enjoy it? That’s why I get so excited to work with clients who need to overhaul and transform their career. Greater awareness, new tools and a great thought partner (i.e. me, your coach!) are a powerful combination sure to transform your stress to satisfaction and to elevate your frustration to fulfillment.

So what’s the key to making the switch? Alignment.

Alignment can be described in several ways:

  • Alignment is finding and curating positions of agreement or alliance, like creating a mutually beneficial relationship.

  • Alignment is focusing on what matters most so you can receive the information you desire, like tuning your radio to the correct station.

  • Alignment is balancing the various key aspects of your life so you have a smoother life journey, like balancing the four wheels of a car before a road trip.

“But what am I supposed to align to?” you ask…

YOU. The answer is YOU. You’re supposed to align to what you authentically need and desire. I was frustrated because I was following someone else’s model of success. And if you don’t have a unique & personally motivating life vision that is inspiring your career, you are likely doing the same thing. The exasperation you feel is pushing you to take this opportunity to transform your career into one that energizes and motivates you on a consistent basis. The average person spends 40% of their waking hours working. So when you’re unhappy in your career it’s going to ripple into other areas of your life.

Alignment is the process of gaining clarity on what really matters and intentionally transforming your career to achieve your authentic goals.  Alignment is a critical part of the work that I do with all of my clients.

My coaching services are typically divided into four phases:

  • Phase 1: We'll start by assessing your current situation and gaining more awareness concerning your present circumstances.

  • Phase 2: We’ll move develop a compelling future-state vision and a career alignment plan that will get you there.

  • Phase 3: You’ll then put that alignment plan into action, focusing on lessons from human performance studies and the daily habits that will get you to your goals.

  • Phase 4: I’ll be your accountability partner to consistently check-in on your goals + help you conquer any challenges that come up along the way.

So…if you also find yourself successful but struggling, consider this an open invitation. Reach out and schedule a discovery call so we can discuss whether working together would be a good fit.
