Client Committments

To get the most out of our journey together, I ask my clients to make the following commitments to the coaching experience:

  1. Be coachable. Be willing to examine your processes (habits, methods, values) and change them to your ideals. Be open to new possibilities and experimenting with new ideas. Trust the process and allow me to earn your trust. Patience is underrated and absolutely necessary for sustainable transformational change.

  2. Commit to the journey, not just the results. I have no doubt that our time together will be a transformational experience, but please be open to a change of direction as we work together. You may begin an experience with a certain end in mind but discover through our work together that a different path is optimal. Be willing to pivot if that is in your best interest.

  3. Be open. Please share your fears, upsets, successes, embarrassments and the truth of your experiences. Coaching does not work as well if you withhold relevant information.

  4. Commit to co-creating your coaching experience. It’s important that you assume ownership of your learning. Use your coach as a consultant to help you maximize your unique learning style. Be forthright about what is and isn’t working in the coaching process. Please don’t hesitate to provide feedback before, after or during our sessions. If you’re looking to go deeper into an aspect of our coaching, please let me know. If there is something off limits, I will absolutely respect your boundaries.

  5. Be focused. During our coaching sessions, create a distraction free environment as much as possible. Avoid taking coaching calls while you are driving or trying to complete other projects. Put our coaching session on your work calendar and block off the time. Let your family know that you’ll need at least an hour of quiet time. You may reschedule any coaching call with 24 hours notice without charge.

  6. Schedule time for homework. If applicable, commit adequate time between coaching sessions to work on the results. Be sure to prepare well for each coaching session so that we can make the most out of our time together.

  7. Implement the Learnings. You’re going to have “a-ha” moments. It’s important that you implement the insights you gain so that you can show your growth. In addition to reviewing your coaches notes, monitor your own results and communicate with coaching stakeholders (leaders, teams, clients) about your accomplishments and the gaps you are closing.

  8. Organizational perspective. Be sure to inform me of of any relevant information about your company, its business strategy, your key initiatives, and how your role fits into the overall strategy.  Regularly update me on any changes in business direction or outlook that might influence business strategy, your role, or your measures of success.
